Many charities both at home and abroad have benefitted from the generosity of SFX staff and pupils who raised thousands of euro down through the years. Charities such as Concern Ireland, the Irish Red Cross, Bóthar, Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Barnardos, the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal and the Simon Community to name but a few.
Each Christmas a group of 6th class pupils perform a medley of Christmas carols for the patients and staff in St. Francis’ Hospice. Our pupils are always warmly welcomed and enjoy chatting with the patients afterwards. “It was our absolute pleasure to meet your present 6th class this morning along with Mr. Donaghy and Ms. Brady. Once again their friendly approach to the patients they met and their ability to converse at ease with them is something that was commented on by not only the patients but all staff that met them. They are truly a credit to the school their parents but mostly themselves. Their singing was beautiful and has put us all in the festive spirit. Please pass on my thanks to each and every one of them.” Martina O’Dowd, Hospice DayCare Manager
