Parents’ Association

St Francis Xavier Parents’ Association

Since the 1980s, the Parents’ Association at St. Francis Xavier National School has played a vital role in supporting our school community. Now, with a committee of around 20+ enthusiastic parents from both the Junior and Senior Schools, the Parents’ Association works closely with the principals, staff, board of management, parents and students to foster an environment where every individual can achieve their best.

Parents’ Association Fundraising

The primary role of the Parents’ Association is to raise essential funds for both schools, we also organise community-wide events, and support school-led initiatives throughout the academic year. Our main fundraising events include the annual Christmas Fair (held late November) and the Summer Fun Day (held in May). Through the funds raised at these events and other activities, the Parents’ Association has fully funded the installation of the outdoor astro pitch in 2017. These funds also help towards purchasing iPads/Chromebooks, library books, outdoor games tables and benches, and supporting activities such as buses for swimming lessons and treats for students throughout the year.

Working Hand in Hand with Our Schools

The Parents’ Association supports both schools in promoting the school ethos and policies, and through feedback from parents, advises the Principals on matters that may require a review of school policy. The Parents’ Association also organises talks by external speakers for parents and students on topical or relevant issues.

The work of the Parents’ Association is supported by the Class Reps (one volunteer parent per class), who share key updates and information via WhatsApp with class parent groups, and bring feedback and ideas from parents to the Parents’ Association. We are also a member of the National Parents Council, which provides access to training, advice and best-practice guidelines.

The Parents’ Association supports school run activities such as First Holy Communion (second class), Confirmation (sixth class), Graduation (sixth class) and the annual Book Fair in both schools. We also assist in coordinating key initiatives, including the creation of Christmas cards, school calendars, and graduation hoodies for the sixth class students. Additionally, we maintain a stock of pre-loved uniforms, which are made available to parents throughout the school year.
